Full Steam Ahead for the Pickering Rally

PICKERING 55TH ANNUAL TRACTION ENGINE RALLY 2007

THE biggest line of showman's engines and large fairground organs ever seen
in the North of England is set to steam their way into Pickering next
weekend.
Pickering Showground is hosting its 55th annual Pickering Traction Engine
Rally with attractions for the whole family on 2, 3, 4 and 5 August.
There's lots of fun for children with entertainers, punch and judy, quads
and an indoor disco from 6pm to 7pm each day.
And young and old alike can enjoy all the fun of the fair with steam driven
gallopers, steam yachts, cakewalk, a lighthouse helter skelter, a wall of
death and a big wheel plus all the latest white knuckle rides.
There will be more than 1000 vintage classic cars, commercials and
motorcycles and a host of continuous arena attractions, three live stage
shows and live bands to entertain the crowds.
People can also browse the trade stands, craft marquee, model tent, army
displays and exhibitions, and there will be licensed cider and real ale bars
for some well deserved refreshment.
And for the enthusiasts there are over 100 full size traction engines, 400
vintage tractors,heavy haulage and road engines, steam rollers, steam
lorries, steam threshing and ploughing demonstrations, 70 miniature steam
traction engines and a huge autojumble and collectors market.
A firework display on Saturday evening from 6pm to 10pm will help the whole
event go with a bang.
Entrance costs £8 adults, over 65s, under 16s £4 and under fives get in
free.
A family ticket admitting two adults and three children costs £20. Camping
is available.
Opening times are 10am to 6pm on 2 August, 9am to 6pm on 3 and 4 August
while the steam fair on 3 August is open 6pm to 10pm and 9am to 5pm on 5
August.
